Three questions to answer first
Which passport will you travel on? What will you do in Sri Lanka? How long do you intend to stay? Use those answers to check the official rules before making commitments. Residence in a country is not necessarily the same as holding its nationality.
Your basic document check
The official application guidance lists a passport valid for at least six months from arrival, a confirmed return ticket and sufficient funds for the stay. Keep the ETA approval accessible alongside your travel documents.
- Use the same passport details throughout your application and travel arrangements.
- If your passport is renewed after you apply, ask the official service what you must do before travelling.
- Review each family member separately; do not assume one adult’s permission covers everyone.
- Keep your first accommodation address and a reliable contact method available.
Nationality-specific routes
The official ETA notices include additional sponsor procedures for certain nationalities. Check those notices directly, especially if the standard application does not match your circumstances. The homepage guide finder is a navigation aid, not an eligibility decision.
Business, transit and longer stays
Check the official category for your actual activities. Do not assume that a holiday permission covers employment, study or residence. If you plan a longer stay, confirm the correct route before departure instead of relying on an extension being granted.
