The short answer

Start with Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) and your hotel’s full address. “Colombo” is too broad to use as the only destination when agreeing a fare or pickup.

Choose how you want to arrive

Option Best reason to consider it Before leaving
Hotel-arranged or pre-booked car A clear meeting arrangement after a long flight Confirm the driver, all-in price and delay procedure.
Airport taxi counter An identifiable point of contact on arrival Agree the destination, total fare and receipt.
App-arranged car A quote and vehicle details on your phone Verify the permitted pickup point and a working data connection.
Public transport A budget-led journey with flexibility Check current service, luggage arrangements and the last connection to the hotel.

Confirm the hotel entrance, not only its name

Save the address and map pin offline. Share the exact destination with the provider and ask the property about access, late check-in and whether a driver can stop at the entrance.

Bandaranaike Airport is outside central Colombo. We do not give a guaranteed journey time: traffic, weather, the final neighbourhood and current road conditions matter. Ask for a date-specific estimate and leave a buffer for a later booking.

Ask for the complete price

Clarify tolls, parking, waiting and any late-arrival charge. Tell the provider how many people and bags you have and request a suitable vehicle. If you need a child seat, confirm the actual seat and availability rather than assuming one will be supplied.

The airport operator lists a supervised taxi counter in the arrival lobby. Use the current airport information or staff directions to locate it. This website does not sell transfers or hold live fare inventory.

Is Colombo the right first stop?

Choose Colombo if you want time in the city or an onward connection that fits the route. Choose Negombo if a nearby first night better suits your flights and plans. A late arrival does not need an additional sightseeing task.

Read the Colombo guide for a relaxed first day, then keep the arrival sequence available offline.
