The current tourist ETA update
The official notice effective 25 May 2026 lists 40 nationalities eligible for a free 30-day tourist ETA. Advance ETA is still required. Singapore and Seychelles have a 30-day arrangement; Maldives has a 90-day arrangement.

When a fee applies
For applicants outside the exemptions, the official schedule lists the following applicant-submitted fees. Category, nationality and submission method matter; confirm the amount on the official service before paying.

The schedule also lists a free two-day transit category and a tourist ETA fee exemption for children under 12 for stays up to 30 days. Check the conditions rather than assuming every application is free.
Government charges and service charges
A private company’s service charge is separate from a government fee. Before paying an intermediary, read exactly what it will do, who operates it, what the total includes and how corrections are handled. This website currently charges no application or assistance fee and does not collect payments.
Budget for changes separately
An extension, a different visa category or a change to your plans can involve separate conditions and costs. Do not budget on the assumption that the initial exemption covers a longer stay.

Read an intermediary quote line by line
Ask for the government fee, private assistance charge, optional extras and final total separately. A service charge on a free tourist ETA does not make the government fee non-zero. Confirm who handles errors and what the cancellation terms actually cover.
