Choose your passport nationality, then check your purpose of travel. Living in a country does not automatically give you its passport or entry arrangements.

What the current tourist notice says
The official notice effective 25 May 2026 provides a free 30-day tourist ETA for 40 listed nationalities. An ETA must still be obtained before arrival. Maldives, Seychelles and Singapore have reciprocal arrangements; the notice gives Maldivian visitors 90 days. Read the full country list and conditions on the official ETA portal.
Our fees and exemptions guide connects the notice with the general fee schedule. A tourist exemption should not be used to assume that business, employment, study or residence has the same conditions.
If your nationality is not listed here
These ten passport guides are a growing directory, not a complete eligibility list. Use the general requirements guide and the official nationality notices. Some passports require a sponsor-assisted route. For an unusual document, dual nationality or an unclear travel purpose, obtain guidance from Sri Lankan immigration or a Sri Lankan mission before applying.
Prepare once, check each traveller
Keep a separate document checklist for each person travelling. Compare names, document numbers and dates with the passport in hand. Save the approval and reference in an accessible offline folder. Children, partners and friends should never be assumed to be covered by somebody else’s permission.
